Meredith’s Makeup Tutorial Series: 10 Minutes For Daytime Makeup

Meredith's 10 Minute Makeup Tutorial

Do you remember a few weeks ago when I told you I was going to do a video makeup tutorial?

Well, I’ve finally finished this daunting task.

It took me FOR-EVER to complete this video because I don’t like the way I look without makeup.

I walk around talking about girl power all the time, yet, it’s crippling to think of getting in front of a camera au naturel. That’s pretty lame of me, I know.

But I sucked it up, and bared it all. A promise is a promise.

And I made a promise.

I’m about to show you something that’s so easy and time effective, that I sometimes do it in my car, while driving with one hand.

Yes, I am that annoying woman driving next to you in traffic.

I also sometimes pick my nose in my car. Why? BECAUSE WHERE ELSE CAN YOU PICK YOUR NOSE, APPLY MAKEUP, AND SING SONGS AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS?!

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PRODUCTS I’M USING. For the sake of time, I don’t really go through it in the video.

So there you have it! Have a beautiful day!

XOXO,

Meredith

Nice! I’m terrible with makeup and don’t usually spend a lot. I have oily/flaky skin, so makeup tends to look cakey and blotchy and oily when I put it on. It also now tends to settle in my wrinkles. I’m a mess. I’ve learned for me that less is more, but maybe I’ll splurge on some higher end products and see if that helps.

I have ALL of those same issues. I tried every product until I got it just right.

You’re GORGEOUS! Thanks for the tips, Meredith! We have the same coloring but I have more wrinkles than you. I’ve never thought about using bronzer or liquid eyeliner but I may just check them out now.

Chief,Thank you for your analysis. Jim is an American Studies guy, and like every specialist, can benefit by those who bring a different perspective. You and MB do that admirably.[As an aside: This is why the old Intel-dump was such a fine forum. What a collection of expansive experiences and thinkers! I considered that to be true democracy in action. I did not have much to offer, but I learned much by listening to your voice, and those of many others.]

Don’t let anyone tell you your not beautiful makeup free…they have no idea what they’re talking about. Loved the tutorial. I’ll try the mascara trick for sure. Do you have any suggestions for finding the right color for foundation?

    • Meredith May 5, 2014 at 6:54 pm - Reply

I went to the Dior counter at Fallen Timbers. Ask for Stephanie.

You’re beautiful with or without make-up!

One secret I use to make my blonde lashes look thicker — I use mascara on the top of my lashes (with my eyelid closed), switch eyes, then go back and do the under side of my lashes. Thickens those babies right up.

Any advice though for mascara that flakes? By the end of the day, I look like I have that black stuff football players wear under their eyes to reflect the sun.

ugh…. where have you been my entire makeup wearing life? I thought I was doing mascara right… but guess what?!?!?! I wasn’t. I was doing it wrong. Alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll wrong. So now I would like your blessing to take money out of the vacation jar to go to the Dior counter.

      Yes, you have my blessing.

    Hey Meredith,

I’ve never commented before but I just have to say you look gorgeous without makeup! As far as girl power goes if you want to wear makeup because it makes you feel awesome then that’s plenty of girl power to me! Not lame at all

Also I’m sure you’ve been using your fingers to blend your makeup in since forever, but if you’d like to try buy a beauty blender. It you haven’t tried one yet it blends your make up in smoothly and I absolutely love mine.

We have similar make up routines! Heads up though, E.L.F. ($1) liquid eyeliner is the shit! I use to use MAC liquid eye and I swear ELF is better. As a stylist, I just want to commend you on doing whatever the fuck feels comfortable to you in your routine! Ladies, there are multiple ways to skin a cat! (Preferably not at all, but ya know.)

From your newest reader, keep on keeper on! Ciao!

Thanks for the ELF tip! I will have to check it out!
